Beginning in May of 2016, Ash has been a member of the Urban Cohort at Miami University, formerly known as the Urban Teaching Cohort. The Urban Cohort is a group spanning across multiple majors and concentration areas dedicated to social change in low-income as well as gentrified areas.
The primary focuses of the Urban Cohort are currently in Over-the-Rhine in lower Cincinnati as well as the Ohio City area in Cleveland. Some of the service that Ash has participated in during her time so far includes:

Student teaching in an urban school beginning in the fall of 2018

Weekend immersions in Over-the-Rhine and Ohio City

Friday mentoring sessions at Rothenberg Preparatory Academy in Over-the-Rhine

Saturday mentoring sessions at Peaslee Neighborhood Center in Over-the-Rhine

A three week immersion and eight week fellowship in Over-the-Rhine during the summer of 2017.
