Biographical Information

Ashley (Ash) McCartney's current home in Forest Park, Ohio includes herself, her parents, and her younger sister. At Winton Woods High School, Ash focused primarily on her studies, but did attend the West Point Leadership Conference in 2014 and was a part of Winton Woods' leadership team. Through the inspiration she received from her Advanced Placement English teacher, she finished off her senior year determined to be a high school level English teacher herself. She graduated with an Honors Diploma and ranked 4th in her class with a GPA of 3.86/4.00 in May of 2015.

Ash currently is a senior at Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, and majors in Middle Childhood Education with concentration focuses in Language Arts and Social Studies. She is an active member of the Urban Cohort, a social justice-centered organization at Miami, and intends to use the experience she has gained in this program to better teach students in highly diverse urban communities. She spends time in both the Cincinnati and Cleveland areas serving the communities the Urban Cohort is partnered with. Ash has also spent the last academic year as a resident assistant on Miami's Oxford campus.
